OUR STORY

Our journey began with a powerful resolve: to let Sophie’s light continue to shine by making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

Roars for Sophie was founded in 2021 to honor Sophie Rosato, our vibrant little girl whose short life touched everyone around her. Sophie brightened up any room she walked into, with a carefree attitude and a wise soul beyond her years. She was our sunshine, her sister's best friend, her grandparent's joy, and her godparent's light. When our world was turned upside down, and we were left wondering how or why, it was the support and generosity of others that helped us turn our grief into something positive, ensuring her memory lives on in a meaningful way.

We chose to live through the experience that crushed us from the inside out and reshaped our views and priorities.

As a family, we quickly realized that there were different ways to move forward, and we chose to live through the experience that crushed us from the inside out and reshaped our views and priorities. It’s how you choose to live with grief that defines you, and we chose to live for Sophie, who did not have the choice to stay. We chose to live for Penelope, who, at such a young age, lost part of her innocence as she had to understand the passing of her little sister and somehow still be a kid. We chose to live for Ilaria, to show her that there is beauty in darkness, and that happiness can exist alongside heartbreak. I want to thank the three of them because, for such little humans, they have taught me so much about time and how to fill the moments of my life.

We chose to make a difference in the community.

Though we only spent 10 days at SickKids with Sophie, we witnessed families being admitted, families being discharged, families praying for a miracle, and families who only knew the inside of those walls. Everyone had a story, and everyone knew the value of time and unconditional love. No one was afraid to support each other in times of need. It made me appreciate even more the 20 months we had with our daughter. It was short, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world, as there were families in that hospital whose children had only known the inside of a hospital room since birth. The magic and hard work that happens at SickKids is truly amazing, and we are proud to support them in their journey, doing it all in Sophie’s name.

By 2024, Roars for Sophie had raised nearly $80,000, with a goal of reaching $100,000

Since our inaugural Golf Tournament in 2021, where we raised over $37,000 for the Neurology Unit at SickKids Hospital, our mission has only grown stronger. By 2024, Roars for Sophie had raised nearly $80,000, with a goal of reaching $100,000. These funds are helping to provide crucial care and support for children and families at SickKids, ensuring that Sophie’s legacy continues to bring hope and healing.

Our family’s journey through this experience has been shaped by the incredible support of our community. From donations to heartfelt messages, Roars for Sophie has become a symbol of what can be achieved when we come together for a greater cause. We are proud to be recognized by SickKids for our contributions, but even more so, we are proud of the community that has rallied around us to make a difference.
